2011 was a huge year for me. I started studying towards a PhD, and dropped out eight weeks later. Annie became interactive and therefore awesome and demanding. My writing reached new heights of prolificism. I got a publishing contract for The Lesser Evil, and have begun negotiations for its sequel, The Road to Hell. I created a Twitter account and two Facebook fan pages (here and here), and revived this languishing blog. I revamped my website completely from the ground up. And through it all, full-time work and the commuting thereof continued to dominate upwards of 50 hours per week.

But busy as I’ve been, I knew there was more planning to do. It’s never too early to think about the future. And it’s starting to look like 2012 will be at least as busy as this year.

It’s been a long time since I last posted on this blog. But I had to post about my very first ever Father’s Day. Here’s how it went down, and here’s why it was one of the best weekends of my life.

On Saturday, after a lovely sleep-in, Annie and Katie presented me with my Father’s Day bounty, and what bounty it was! Annie’s very first ever painting, on a canvas bigger than her, is the best present I have ever received from anybody ever.

Two days short of Annie’s one-month birthday, I have returned to my blog to add some photos and a brief Annie update.

Things are going quite smoothly so far. Being a parent is a lot of work, but also (so far) a lot of fun. Annie is sleeping quite well and is a very placid baby, so she is mostly a joy to look after. She is a hungry little baby, and is happy to feed from breast or bottle, which is excellent news for situations where we are out in public or when Katie has left me alone with her for a while.
